Welcome to the Orangutan Foundations
page at Inside2Outside Ltd. |
|
|

|
Inside2Outside
made the decision to support Orangutans after they realised
how their natural habitat – the rainforests – are
being destroyed in the name of commerce. As I2O are known as
the “Canopy People” through their Pocca brand
for education, it seemed fitting to help an animal that lives
in forest canopies.
The Orangutan Foundation (www.orangutan.org.uk),
who will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, were
chosen because they not only preserve the wild populations of
orangutans in their natural habitat but they also care for sick
and orphaned orangutans through rehabilitation programmes. They
also support scientific research and work with a network of
partner organisations both locally and internationally (one
such partner is Yayorin, www.yayorin.org) |

| Like Inside2Outside, the
Orangutan Foundation believes in Education and that todays children
are tomorrows leaders, this is the key to the survival of the rainforests
and Orangutans. By working together we hope to spread the word of
the Orangutans plight and help raise much needed funds for the Foundations
work to continue. |
| |
| To try and reduce our ecofootprint,
from 1st May 2009 Inside2Outside has donated an amount of money from
each job sold to the Foundation, to help them continue their conservation
work in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra – the natural habitat
of the Orangutan. So keep an eye on this page of our website to see
how much money has been raised and also updates on where the money
is going. |
| |
| We have also “adopted”
an Orangutan called Violet through Care for Wild (www.careforthewild.org)
who handle the Foundations adoptions. “As humans invade the
rainforests on which orangutans depend, many lose their homes, their
mothers, their lives. For every captured infant, another 3 to 5 die.”
(Care for the Wild, 2009). By becoming Violets foster parent we help
pay for her loving care and attention at the Orphaned Orangutan Care
Centre in Borneo which prepares her for a gradual rehabilitation back
into the wild. |

| Violet was less than a
year old when her mother was killed. She was found chained to a chicken
shed in central Indonesian Borneo. Her “owners” kept her
as a pet, she was scared, infested with parasites and suffering from
anaemia and amoebic dysentery, she was rescued just in time. |

| Orangutan Awareness
Week 9th-15th November 2009 |
| |
| The Awareness week is held
every year by the Foundation to do just that—raise awareness
of Orangutans and the rainforests plight. 12th November 2009 is Orange
for Orangutan Day where you are encouraged to dress up in orange
for a day to raise much needed funds. We hope to get at least 100
schools to pledge to raise £100 each. This will not only educate
the children but also their parents, guardians and friends. We hope
you will join us in raising as much money as possible for the Foundation
using education awareness as the key. |

| Please read on to understand
a bit more of what is happening in the rainforests. There are links
to the Foundations own website, Education downloads and their Blog
on Wildlife Direct (www.orangutanfoundation.wildlifedirect.org)
which you should find interesting. |
